Jan Walker
Author • Illustrator • Painter • Teacher
Jan spent her childhood in the quaint village of Goffstown, New Hampshire. When she was twelve, her parents Joseph and Jeanine Philomena Dulude, and her brother Jon, moved to nearby Bedford.
In 1965, Jan began her grandest adventure of all. With a rucksack on her back, she went around the world, traveling through forty countries. During her two years in Australia, Jan met Peter Walker, who was from Stirling, Scotland. Together, they traveled overland from Singapore to London, traveling through such exciting places as India, Nepal (in the Himalayan Mountains), Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Israel, and on through Europe.
In 1970, Peter and Jan were married in Goffstown. In 1973, they moved to Georgia where they bought their first home, where Jan lives today. Sadly, Peter passed away in 1990.
In 1979, Jan established The Children’s Gallery in her home studio in Cornelia. Her Neeps were created for her students in 1984. Her first picture book, The Kingdom of Neep, was published in 1993, followed by Gloomy and Christmas Tea at Harvest Hall.
Geese, Neeps and a Faraway Land is Jan’s first chapter book. Jan's fifth book, The Christmas Neep, was published in 2022. Her life has been a grand adventure full of faraway lands and people from all over the world…not to mention all the wonderful animals and creatures she has met along her journey.
