Jeanie Daves' work in clay ranges from functional stoneware and bas-relief tiles to figure sculpture. She depicts a variety of animal and plant subjects, particularly those native to the Southern Appalachian region and often with a whimsical bent. Jeanie began working in clay in 1978 at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta. She earned a B.F.A. in ceramics at Georgia State University (GSU) in 1995 and completed 20 hours of graduate work in the MFA program. She also holds a master’s degree in communications, GSU (1985), and a B.A. in Theater Arts/English, Rollins College (1966). Jeanie and her husband Walter live in Clarkesville, Georgia. She sells her pottery through local galleries and teaches occasional workshops. Other interests include playing old time fiddle in a band and singing with a church choir.
