Judy Bynum George

Painter
Judy George was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and grew up in Arkansas and Texas. As a resident of Northeast Georgia for the past 35 years, George has focused herl artwork on the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountain ranges, as well as the National Forests of Georgia and Tennessee. Her paintings have become a part of numerous private and corporate collections throughout the Southeastern United States. She has taught at the university level and in art centers in the North Georgia area. Judy is known for her large colorful landscapes and unique teaching style. Her Modern Impressionist paintings have become recognizable for their brush strokes and rich color. Thickly applied mountains of color express enthusiasm for her subject while her playful and inspirational titles convey a message of encouragement for fellow travelers. Artist Statement: "Everywhere I look, I am overwhelmed with the beauty of nature, and also the many colorful people who grace my life. I paint in response to all of life, using the forms of nature as symbols for expression: pathways, clouds, mountains, sunlight and shadows, flowers, trees, and flowing streams. The paintings are a record of my personal journey. More recently, I have been emphasizing experimentation, improvisation and play. I also love words, and collect titles from everything from rock music to hymns, movies, sports, and social media. My paintings are inspired by both the words and music. For me the titles are a very important part, and are one my ways of connecting with the world"
