Nancy Ackerman
Painter • Glass artist
From the artist:
"It was during my youth, growing up in southwest Georgia that I developed a heightened respect for nature. My mother grew beautiful flowers and vegetables and today, my love for nature is reflected not only in my own gardens, but in my paintings of florals, landscapes and wildlife. These are the subjects I enjoy painting because I can incorporate bold color and texture into them, bringing them to life. I enjoy creating fused glass and pottery pieces and I also teach acrylic painting, but oil painting remains my favorite.
I am for the most part, self-taught, having only attended limited art classes and workshops over the past twenty years. It is enriching to share what I’ve learned, through experience, with fellow artists. I believe we not only learn from each other but inspire each other as well.
I am incredibly humbled knowing that my paintings are in homes and offices across the country, providing a sense of joy and happiness to others. I am equally blessed to reside among so many creative artisans in the beautiful tri-state region of Northeast Georgia and the Carolinas. Art can soothe our souls and clear our minds when days become chaotic.
In addition to Hemlock Studio Gallery, my art is also exhibited at the following Northeast Georgia galleries:
Helen Arts & Heritage Center, Helen, Georgia; The Killmon Gallery, Sautee, Georgia; Oakley Gallery, Gainesville, Georgia; Sautee Nacoochee Center, Sautee, Georgia."
