Vicki Dominy-Hall
Painter
Beginning in childhood in Michigan, Vicki Dominy-Hall was fascinated by – and developed a love for – animals, particularly collies and horses. Early on, her mother gave her an oil painting set. This, and a lifelong friendly rivalry with her older sister (who is also an artist), provided the motivation to paint what she sees…in stunning detail.
Vickie tells of a time that she was so enamored with the collie pictured on the cover of the novel, Lad a Dog, that she subsequently painted a similar picture just so that she would have one of her own!
As she grew older, Vickie took art classes at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio where she explored various art media – charcoal, pencil, watercolor, oil, acrylics, pen-and-ink, and pastels – often with an eye toward being a better artist than her sister!
Over the years of working many “day jobs” while also raising a family, Vicki continued to paint one or two pictures a year, often using the kitchen table, knowing that she had a limited amount of time before she would need the table to serve dinner.
We are pleased to show Vicki’s work here at Hemlock Studio Gallery, showcasing the many wonderful ways her creativity is expressed on paper or canvas.
